Sleepless nights for Varun Dhawan   

Shoojit Sircar’s “October,” has had the actors go through drills to be able to perform their roles with maximum honesty. For a few scenes in the film, Sircar wanted Varun Dhawan to look as natural as possible and not use makeup.  He instructed Dhawan to not sleep for a few days or have minimum sleep of an hour or two every day for a week. The actor, without hesitation, followed the director’s vision and what has translated on camera is said to be spectacular. Produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, “October” is set to release Apr. 13.

Mahesh Bhatt takes to Twitter to announce his next, ‘Jalebi’ 

Mahesh Bhatt took to his Twitter handle to introduce the team of Vishesh Films’ next, “Jalebi: The Taste Of Everlasting Love,” which is written by Kausar Munir and directed by Pushpdeep Bhardhwaj. It will go on floors Mar. 21 and star Rhea Chakraborty, Varun Mitra and Digangana Suryavanshi.

Jacqueline now into horse-riding

Traditional song with Saroj Khan for Chitrangda Singh


Chitrangda Singh’s “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3” will have the actress dancing on a folk dance number choreographed by Saroj Khan. The song features a host of traditional steps and was shot at a ‘haveli’ in Jaipur. Singh rehearsed for five days, for about six-seven hours daily. And, once she was ready to roll, the song took four days on the floors. The song is an important part of the film’s climax, and it has also been treated as a highlight of the film.

Hina Khan sizzles


Television’s most sought-after ‘bahu,’ who went on to become the most talked- about contestant during her successful stint in the “Bigg Boss” house, is ready to sizzle in a Punjabi music single alongside a celebrated singer. Khan’s popularity after the show was unmatched as the audiences across country loved her, and she was roped in for a Punjabi film song to be shot in Patiala. Khan also made news recently by stating that she was ready to work on screen “even with enemies” (read Shilpa Shinde, who also won “Bigg Boss.”). She shared her pictures on Instagram.

Child actor Ashnoor Kaur, who plays Vilas in “Prithvi Vallabh” the serial, is now doing Anurag Kashyap’s “Manmarziyaan” with Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. She is playing Taapsee’s younger sister and I currently shooting in Amritsar. She is playing a 14-year-old (her real age) in the film. Kaur’s other popular television shows include “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain, “Saath Nibhana Saathiya” “Mahadev” and  “Bada Acche Lagte Hain.”

Rahul Bose pledges for mental health awareness

Rahul Bose, known to support unique social causes, is now going to be cycling with more than 2500 citizens of Mumbai to create awareness for and remove all stigma associated with Mental Health. ‘Ride to Mpower,’ an initiative by the Mpower Movement will be held Mar. 11 to bring to the forefront conversations on this issue. Neerja Birla, Founder, and Chairperson, Mpower, initiated the “It’s ok not to be ok” challenge holding a placard urging people to seek help when they feel something is not right! This message has also reached countries like Spain, Poland, Russia and Germany who are joining in to champion the cause. 

“Mental Hai Kya” filming begins in a month

Ekta Kapoor’s and Shaailesh R. Singh's forthcoming film “Mental Hai Kya” has already got the audience hooked with its distinct and quirky posters. The Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao film is here to “celebrate the beauty in imperfections and asks you to accept your madness with nonchalance.” The last three looks released are making the audiences sway with its uniqueness, which has never been seen before in Hindi cinema, while the fourth look released sees the actors shouting out loud, “Sanity is indeed overrated!” The film is directed by national award winning director Prakash Kovelmudi.

Fox Star Studios’ Hindi adaptation of “The Fault In Our Stars” will have music by A.R. Rahman. The music played a pivotal part in this sensitive love story.​ Rahman and the Studios share nostalgia, as it was “Slumdog Millionaire” that won the Oscars in many categories including for the Best Original Music Score. ​ Sushant Singh Rajput has been signed on to play the lead while Mukesh Chhabra will direct.​​ 

Ayushmann Khurrana lets out a secret

Ayushmann Khurrana, who has sung several of his own songs, has revealed that all singers and actors, big and small, use auto-tune to correct their pitch during song recordings. He added that he was the only one who did not, but he did use the technology in his first film song, “Paani Da Rang” from “Vicky Donor.” He also added that Parineeti Chopra never needed this, and Chopra had made her film debut with the song “Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin” in their film “Meri Pyaari Bindu.” 

John Abraham in spy thriller ‘RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter)’


John Abraham stars in “RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter)” directed by Robbie Grewal. The spy thriller will be shot in a start-to-finish 60-day schedule in Nepal, Gujarat, Srinagar and Delhi. He will sport many avatars in the film. Last year, the film had been announced with Sushant Singh Rajput, but the actor had opted out of the film after the prep was done, citing date issues.

Rahul Roy makes a comeback


The “Aashiqui” (1990) sensation, Rahul Roy, who never made it big, is now set to try his luck in films again with “Welcome To Russia,” a comedy-drama to be directed by first-timer Nitin Gupta. The shoot took off last week in Russia. Roy plays Arsan, a Russian-Indian official, who is corrupt and involved with the Russian mafia. “You do not learn if Arsan plans to help the government, or become a Russian don until the end,” said Roy, who was last seen in “Ada” (2010) and also won a season of “Bigg Boss,” to a Mumbai tabloid. He will be seen in six getups in the end-2018 release.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra to test IQs on web

Like a web version of “KBC,” Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra launched a digital game show that will test viewers with 12 multiple-choice questions. Advertising and marketing tie-ups will fund prizes running into several lakh for the show starting Mar. 12. It will be hosted by Rohit Roy.
