What’s on TV

PSYCH: THE MOVIE 8 p.m. on USA Network. James Roday and Dulé Hill cracked wise and solved crimes for eight years in “Psych,” a silly, hyper-referential procedural. The show garnered a rabid fan base for its running gags, rapid-fire quips and easy rapport between its two stars. Now Shawn Spencer (Mr. Roday), who passes his observational skills off as psychic powers, and Burton Guster (Mr. Hill), his more strait-laced sidekick, are back for a full-length film; the pair opens up a new office in San Francisco after a mystery assailant targets someone close to them. Maggie Lawson and Kirsten Nelson return, while John Cena and Zachary Levi make cameos.

32 PILLS: MY SISTER’S SUICIDE 8 p.m. on HBO. In this tense documentary, the filmmaker Hope Litoff looks back on the suicide of her sister, Ruth, who killed herself in 2008 after more than 20 previous attempts. The film starts as an examination of Ruth’s archives, which included pills and artwork, but the focus shifts to Hope as her own health issues resurface and she falls off the wagon. The documentary “becomes more voyeuristically gripping as it progresses,” Ben Kenigsberg wrote in his review in The New York Times.

GOTHAM 8 p.m. on Fox. A couple of Fox shows wrap up their fall seasons tonight. On “Gotham,” villains pop up everywhere: Carmine Falcone arrives, Edward Nygma wrestles to control his alter ego, and a familiar smile returns to the city. On

“THE ORVILLE,” at 9, Ed and Kelly consider getting back together as a planet from another universe is discovered. But Kelly makes a decision with long-term consequences for the planet, putting Ed in a difficult position.

THE GREAT AMERICAN BAKING SHOW 9 p.m. on ABC. While millions of Brits tuned in every week this year to watch “The Great British Bake Off,” the American version is far less heralded. But the show’s third season hopes to get a boost from across the pond from the “Bake Off” judge Paul Hollywood, who will assess these pastries with his usual steely glint. Johnny Iuzzini, who has served as the pastry chef at Daniel and Jean Georges, will also judge, while the former N.F.L. player Anthony Adams and Ayesha Curry host.

THE HOMESMAN (2014) on Netflix. There’s an eerie quiet that pervades most of this Tommy Lee Jones-directed western. Mary Bee Cuddy, played by Hilary Swank, lives alone in Nebraska and longs for a piano to fill in the empty spaces. With her future stalling, she sets out on a draining journey with the irascible Briggs (Mr. Jones) to deliver three mentally ill women to a church; long stretches of silence are broken up by cataclysmic narrative bursts. “‘The Homesman’ is both a captivating western and a meticulous, devastating feminist critique of the genre,” A. O. Scott wrote in his Times review.
