Trump's White House Snubs April Ryan (again) By Not Inviting Her To Its Annual Holiday Party

CNN contributor and White House Correspondent for American Urban Radio Network, April Ryan, will not be attending the White House Christmas party.

Not because she doesn’t want to be there. She just wasn’t invited.

And Ryan believes her anti-Trump behavior is not to blame.

The reporter has made a reputation for herself of grandstanding in White House press briefings and last week launched a conspiracy theory of sorts on whether or not press secretary Sarah Sanders’ photo of a pecan pie was authentic.

Last month, Sanders turned Ryan’s insistence that the national anthem >protests by NFl players

were rooted in racism on its head. The CNN analyst has famously >sparred with

former “Apprentice” star and White House official Omarosa Manigault in the early days of the Trump administration, causing the two to be physically separated.

But the reporter apparently doesn’t think contentious behavior is the reason behind the White House snub.

“I’ve given up trying to figure out why” she told The Washington Post. “He has the right to invite whoever he wants. He chose not to invite me. I’m good.”

She claimed that this was the first Christmas soiree in two decades that she wasn’t invited to.

“I don’t think I was overlooked,” she said. “I think they don’t like me. For whatever reason, they have disdain for me.”

Newsweek seemed to have discovered what they thought was the real reason, however, headlining a story, “White House bars one of few black journalists from attending Christmas party.”

According to Newsweek:

The White House failed to invite a popular and combative black reporter to the annual holiday party because, the reporter said, officials in the Trump administration “don’t like me.”

April Ryan, American Urban Radio Networks Washington bureau chief, one of the few minority female journalists credentialed to attend the White House daily press briefings, said it was no mistake that she had yet to receive an invitation for the yuletide event.

Ryan told CNN on Monday that the Trump administration’s treatment of her is based on her being “a different race.”

“God forbid you are someone of a different race,” she said.  “I’m speaking of myself, you’re considered an opposition. I don’t bring my politics, I just ask questions about what’s right and wrong, or things that go on in Washington…”

CNN decided to boycott the event altogether, declaring, “In light of the President’s continued attacks on freedom of the press and CNN, we do not feel it is appropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests.”

The White House did not seem heartbroken.

But former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer condemned CNN and others for “doing a disservice” to a gracious act by President Trump.

“These media types… are doing a disservice to a gracious act that the president and first lady have offered,” he told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday.

Spicer, who resigned in July, blasted CNN for effectively barring its journalists, who work day in and day out in the trenches, from attending an event the Trump administration opened up to all rather than only company executives as in the past.
