Racing Fans To Get Hands On Look At Industry - CATEGORY Prime Report: TITLE

The highlight of the showcase is the first ever public display of the new racing vehicle, the Fastruck USA.

The Fastruck USA is a class based on full-sized truck bodies, similar in makeup to Winston Cup chassis, powered by high performance V-8's.

The seminars are instructional lessons given at the booths of the leading manufacturers. Today's seminars include: why you should have a computer in your toolbox, presented by Nova Racing Computers at 3 p.m.; race car set-up, presented by Circle Track magazine at 4:30 p.m.; the latest valve train technology, presented by Crane Cams at 6 p.m.; and how to read racing spark plugs, presented by Champion Spark Plug at 8:30 p.m.

The Pit Challenge is for those who want to get down and dirty. The equipment is identical to what is used in the pits. Each 5-person team, men and women, will compete against the clock and each other. They will be required to change tires and add 11 gallons of ''fuel'' to rookie T.W. Taylor's show car.

The McCord Engine Builder Challenge at 7 p.m. is another beat-the-clock and opposition event that pits three teams of NASCAR engine builders in a race to completely assemble and fire two high performance engines.
