More Changes Come To ‘Good Morning America’ Anchor Lineup - CATEGORY Daily News: TITLE

Good Morning America” is reshuffling its staff to capitalize on its recent success.

We’re told that producers behind the ABC show — which is battling NBC’s “Today” for the top spot in the morning — want to focus on its winning team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan, with both Amy Robach and Lara Spencer cutting back their time on the show.

Longtime co-anchor Spencer — who has a growing production company — is trimming her hours on “GMA” to work on her other projects.

And sources tell us that an official announcement is expected any day now that “GMA” news anchor Robach is getting promoted to a new gig fronting the network’s news magazine “20/20.”

Page Six first reported in December that Robach would replace current anchor Elizabeth Vargas in 2018. She’ll continue to work on “GMA” as a breaking-news anchor, shipping out to cover major news, such as natural disasters, in the field.

Sources say that Spencer — whose production company Duffkat Media makes lifestyle shows including HGTV’s “Flea Market Flip,” Cooking Channel’s “Farmer’s Market Flip” and ABC’s “Reconnected” — has signed a new contract with “GMA” that allows her more time for her behind-the-camera work.

“The new schedule is a win for her and for ‘GMA,’” said a source. “She’s still a key part of the show, and she has more flexibility. She’s been telling people about it for a couple of weeks at least.”

Last May, Spencer talked to the Wrap about the scheduling challenges she faced.

“I love being part of the ‘GMA’ family so much, but making and creating content has been a passion of mine for a really long time,” she said. “It’s all about really being organized and one step ahead. Today I did ‘GMA,’ came back [home] to Connecticut and went directly to the workshop for ‘Flea Market Flip’ and shot that. I could never do all these things if I didn’t have the support around me.”
