Finsbury Park Mosque Attack: Hundreds Of Londoners Gather In Show Of Solidarity After Terror Attack - CATEGORY Latest news: TITLE

Hundreds of Londoners from different faiths gathered outside a mosque in Finsbury Park in show of solidarity following a van attack on a crowd of Muslims who had been to pray.

The vehicle veered into a group of people as they fought to help a man who had previously collapsed outside the Muslim Welfare Centre.

The man receiving treatment was killed in the attack in the early hours of Monday.

A further nine people were injured and taken to three different hospitals across the capital.

Crowds gathered outside the mosque, on Seven Sisters Road, on Monday evening in a show of defiance and solidarity.

Faith leaders held a banner which read: “United against facism, racism and hatred” and made emotional speeches to crowds.

Others held up signs displaying messages including “#OneLondon” and #Lovewillwin. #Terrorwilllose”.

The vigil came hours after suspect Darren Osborne, 47, from Cardiff was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later further arrested over "the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder and attempted murder”.

The alleged attacker was pinned to the ground by bystanders following the incident while heroic imam Mohammed Mahoud protected him from an angry mob

Witnesses claimed to have heard a man shout “kill all Muslims” during the attack.

Met Police chief Cressida Dick vowed to deploy more police to protect Muslims observing Ramadan across the capital.
