The campaign arm for House Democrats is donating more than $23,000 it's received from Harvey Weinstein over more than two decades in response to allegations of rape and sexual assault against the Hollywood mogul.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee confirmed it has received $23,225 from Weinstein in four separate donations since 1993. The group said all of the money will be donated.
"The DCCC has already cut the check to donate all old Harvey Weinstein money to Futures Without Violence," DCCC spokeswoman Meredith Kelly said in a statement Tuesday night.
The decision came on the same day that fresh reporting from the New Yorker revealed accusations that Weinstein raped three women he had worked with during his long tenure as one of Hollywood's most powerful figures. That report was followed by a second article in the New York Times that included accounts from actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie about Weinstein's harassment of them early in their careers.
Tuesday evening, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., denounced Weinstein, calling the allegations against him "shocking."
"His despicable actions violate every standard of acceptable behavior," Pelosi said in a statement. "Every man who disrespects and attacks women must be held accountable."
Earlier Tuesday, former president Barack Obama said he was "disgusted" by the allegations and that the nation should "celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories."
Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee who also received thousands of dollars in contributions from Weinstein, said she was "shocked and appalled by the revelations" and said such behavior "cannot be tolerated."
As the allegations against Weinstein first surfaced last week, the Republican National Committee and White House officials began calling on the Democratic Party to return any donations received from Weinstein through the years.
In response, the Democratic National Committee said it would donate the roughly $30,000 if received from Weinstein during the 2016 campaign cycle to women's rights organizations.
The DCCC donation is going to a San Francisco-based group that has campaigned to end domestic violence around the world. Futures Without Violence was among the organizations that pushed for passage of the Violence Against Women Act in 1994.
The DCCC said Weinstein made four separate donations to the group. He donated $16,200 on Nov. 29, 2013; $5,000 on Sept. 29, 2011; $25 on Oct. 31, 1996; and $2,000 on Oct. 13, 1993.
The National Republican Congressional Committee called on the DCCC earlier Tuesday to return money that the Hollywood producer donated to help elect Democrats to the House. They released a web video recounting the allegations and showing photos of Weinstein with Clinton, Obama and other Democrats.
