Audrey Hepburn once lived in a Los Angeles estate fit for royalty. The house, which was later home to such boldface names as
Mia Farrow, , Eva Gabor, and David Niven, is now on the market, per Delish.
Officially known as the Eva Gabor Estate and located in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills, the home is on sale for almost $14 million. It boasts six bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a private tennis court, and a guest house. Don’t forget the 1.1 acres of gardens and lawns—perfectly outfitted for a Hollywood garden party.
The estate was built by architect Paul Williams in 1938. Though Hepburn lived there with husband Mel Ferrer (they were married from 1954 to 1968), the property bears Gabor’s name—the actress and socialite inhabited the estate until her death in 1995. Per Curbed, the property was originally for sale in 2015, when it was priced at $16.95 million.
The house has three dining areas, but perhaps the most significant to Hepburn was the gourmet kitchen. The star, whose love of food was documented in her son’s book >Audrey at Home, cooked colorful, healthy, and elaborate meals; having an expansive kitchen probably aided in that pursuit. The living room and family room—complete with built-in bookshelves—inspire imagery of Hepburn living out a real-life scene from her bookshop in Funny Face, plucking classics off the shelves to read by the fireplace.
Though she did spend some time living in Hollywood, including at this Holmby Hills spot and a Beverly Hills home built by architect Gerard R. Colcord, Hepburn’s truly beloved home was in Tolochenaz, Switzerland, where she died in 1993.
