It's a truism of popular music that it has always been a dominion of the young.

But, after the likes of Justin Bieber and Australian Cody Simpson were discovered performing covers on YouTube as precocious teenagers, record companies have been turning to teens more frequently for the 'next big thing.'

One of those earmarked for future musical world domination is Sydney teenager Ruel.

Speaking to the Herald sun, M-Phazes (aka Mark Landon) said that he was blown away by Ruel's beyond-his-years talent.

'He recorded that when he was 12 years old,' he said. 'He makes me question what I have done with my life.'

Mark went on to reveal that while Ruel's talent was undeniable, he believed it was important not to push the youngster too early.
