'Trump Got Beat At His Own Game': Obama Nabs Most Liked And Most Retweeted Honors For 2017

BestsellerMagazine.com - Top news: TITLE

Three for you, Barack Obama! And none for Donald Trump.

On Tuesday morning, Twitter released its list of 2017’s Most Retweeted Tweets, revealing that poignant messages from former President Obama nabbed three of the 10 spots. And despite spending much of this past year in a Twitter frenzy, exactly none of President Trump’s tweets made the cut.

Obama’s farewell tweets to the American people clocked in at numbers five and eight on the list, respectively:

“Thank you for everything. My last ask is the same as my first. I’m asking you to believe—not in my ability to create change, but in yours,” the former president tweeted less than two weeks before leaving office.

“It’s been the honor of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man,” Obama tweeted on Jan. 20, the day of Trump’s inauguration.

And stealing second place — second only to that Wendy’s chicken nugget guy — was Obama’s tweet condemning racism in the wake of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that claimed the life of a 32-year-old counter-protester.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion,” Obama tweeted in August, quoting Nelson Mandela.

That tweet also earned Obama the No. 1 spot on Twitter’s list of most-liked tweets of the year.

His tweet about John McCain’s brain cancer diagnosis came in third.

John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John.

Meanwhile, on social media, some people responded to Obama’s wins by mocking the Twitter-obsessed Trump for getting “beat at his own game.”

Trump got beat at his own game. Of the top 10 most retweeted tweets this year:

Donald Trump definitely won't care that his tweets weren't among the most retweeted of 2017, but three of Obama's were. So don't bother sharing this with everyone. https://t.co/Cjt7OdW2yd

Let's make the most liked tweet of 2017 the one trump sends out telling us he is resigning…it could be the most liked/retweeted one ever. Come on, @realDonaldTrump, you can finally win one over Obama! I believe in you.

Number of Top Ten Most Retweeted Tweets of 2017:

Obama: 3

Trump: 0

That has to sting bigly.

This is probably going to make Trump madder than anything that has happened this year https://t.co/tbGQFhbIYZ

@RealDonaldTrump did, however, earn the top spot for most-tweeted-about world leaders, and he was also represented under most-tweeted activism hashtags. His campaign slogan #MAGA came in second place, while #TrumpTrain came in fourth.

1 #Resist

3 #ImpeachTrump

4 #TrumpTrain

5 #WomensMarch

6 #NotMyPresident

7 #BlackLivesMatter

9 #TakeAKnee

10 #BoycottNFL

But even on that list, Trump was second best. The No. 1 hashtag was #Resist.
